New Word Game testing – this Thursday night

Attention Word Game Enthusiasts!

Glad to have had the chance to meet several of you at recent MeetUp events. Now I wanted to place a special invitation to those in the group who love Scrabble or other strategic-thinking word games to give me your feedback on a new word CARD GAME I’ve been developing over the past year.

The game I’ve invented is a combination of Scrabble, Anagrams/Banagrams and Rummy … giving a versatility and flow unlike any other word game I’ve seen. My game is called “Play On Words” and the very enjoyable thing about it is the ability to change already played words, both yours and your opponents, during the course of play. And you just play the game with a clear tabletop – no board, dice, timer or game pieces. There are different variations and build-ins to make the game as simple or complex as you want, which gives it a lot of dimension.

Over all my years of playing word games I’ve always wondered why there wasn’t a card game equivalent to the enjoyment of Scrabble, and this Play On Words game may deliver that, and possibly more.

I am just a regular guy with an idea, I am not a company. But before I go a lot further with the idea I want to get the input from word game enthusiasts on the basis of the game, its features, and ways it could be improved. My wife and I will be doing these test nights at various locations around the south metro in the weeks ahead. This Thursday’s will be in an big office building just off Hwy 494 and France Ave S. in Bloomington, in the main-floor conference room. You’ll see a sign as you walk in. We'll be there between 6:30 and 8:30pm. (Stop in, as convenient. You don't have to be on time.)

3601 Minnesota Drive Bloomington, MN (Right next to Fuddrucker’s a block north of Hwy 494 off France Ave. S)

We'll have some free beverages, light munchies & drawings for some small gift cards as a token of our appreciation.

[Note: If you’re interested in being part of this testing but can’t make it this Thursday, please email me and I’ll send you an announcement to a separate event – may or may not be listed on MeetUp. Thank you.]

(Alyssa ... tried sending you an email thru MeetUp, but it said your address had changed, or something like that. So, replying here ....)
The conference room on the main floor is where we'll be, right as you come in the main entrance of the building. Looking forward to meeting you & showing you the game.

After reading the rules, taking the surveys and signing the forms there wasn't much time left to actually play the game.

This was a great idea, both the game and the testing. I only felt I would have liked to play longer.

This was a nice concept, it was great to be involved with examining the rules of the new game. The creators were friendly and helpful explaining the rules and their thoughts about the game, adding elements of complexity as we went along. The pace and duration was also good, and the survey was detailed and thoughtful.
