Midwinter Board Game Night and Mike's Birthday Party 2012!

Saint Albert the Great Catholic Church (map)

Selected By: Nadine Sehnert

Come and join us for fun and games and help Mike celebrate another birthday!

This event will be a potluck so please bring something for potluck table and your own beverage if you want something other than lemonade or water. $5 suggested donation per family. All ages welcome.

NEW!  There will also be a white elephant gift exchange in honor of Mike's birthday.  Bring an item if you want to participate.

While we will provide a wide variety of games to play, please feel free to bring your own as well (and remember to mark them too!) The social hall is a great space for game playing - lots of tables, comfortable chairs, good lighting and access to the kitchen.

Parking is available in lot across church, on the street (odd side parking only) and lot in rear of church. Elevator access is located using the door behind statue of St. Albert. Enter using side doors on west side or in rear of church (on east side) and go down one level to the social hall (basement).

If you want to request a specific game you can see most of our collection on BoardGameGeek.com - http://www.boardgamegeek.com/collection/use....

Should we wrap the white elephant item?

Here's how the White Elephant gift exchange will go.
Everyone bringing a gift (make it interesting and fun, not expensive) will turn in the wrapped present for a random number.

Around 8 PM, we'll announce the White Elephant exchange. Those with the lowest # will then pick a gift and unwrap it and write the name of the gift along with their name on a provided bulletin board.

The next number will either pick a random gift or go steal someone else's gift and so on until all gifts are gone.

OK, I've wrapped everything, and it turns out I have 17 white elephant gifts. Ain't nobody getting outta there without taking something home. ha ha. And maybe...maybe some of them will turn out to be just your dream come true. :)

Great, now I feel like Cecelia and I should come empty handed just so that work isn't for naught! :-)

I've been going through my things and I realize that I have lots of things that I once thought "that would be a nice gift" after which I packed it away and completely forgot about it. I'm sure there will be plenty of people there who either (a) forgot to bring a gift or (b) thought they could sneak out of it by conveniently "forgetting" to bring a gift. heh heh heh
