OK, so I messed up. I was supposed to set up a meetup for the Rio Grande Games Design contest. Here is all the information on this you will need.

http://www.boardgameg...

If you have an idea for a new board game, please contact either Nadine or I beforehand or just show up and present your idea.

If you don't have an idea for games and just want to play, then please show up as well. However, priority will be given to any members who have board game ideas.

Lastly, we will have the grill going in the backyard and since we plan on playing all through dinner time so please feel free to bring something for the grill. Hope to see you to review a few new game ideas and play some fun (new) games!

I have to agree with Abe. This was a great meetup, and I had a wonderful time, but there wasn't much organization, especially regarding the game design contest. One thing I did take away from it is that there is definitely a need for some kind of game designer's gathering/organization in the twin cities. There were lots of us there last night, and nobody knew anybody else.

Simply as a game-playing get together, this was great. A good number of friendly people! As a "game design contest", this was poorly run. Rio Grande has a direct link to this meetup event as the official Minneapolis/St Paul event to for people genuinely serious about the opportunity to have Rio Grande look at their game. I have done my homework when it comes to all aspects of game design and was prepared to go by the rules of the contest. However, the rules were more or less abandonded and the night ended in uncertainty about what wouls happen, or if we really had chance since we were new to this meetup group.
